“David Lays Held Captive by His Inner Thoughts of What Saul May Do”

Psalm 57

New International Version

Psalm 57[a]

For the director of music. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” Of David. A miktam.[b] When he had fled from Saul into the cave.

1 Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me,

for in you I take refuge.

I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings

    until the disaster has passed.

2 I cry out to God Most High,

    to God, who vindicates me.

3 He sends from heaven and saves me,

rebuking those who hotly pursue me—[c]

God sends forth his love and his faithfulness.

4 I am in the midst of lions;

I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts—

men whose teeth are spears and arrows,

    whose tongues are sharp swords.

5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;

let your glory be over all the earth.

6 They spread a net for my feet—

I was bowed down in distress.

They dug a pit in my path—

but they have fallen into it themselves.

7 My heart, O God, is steadfast,

    my heart is steadfast;

I will sing and make music.

8 Awake, my soul!

    Awake, harp and lyre!

    I will awaken the dawn.

9 I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;

I will sing of you among the peoples.

10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;

your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;

let your glory be over all the earth.

Footnotes

Psalm 57:1 In Hebrew texts 57:1-11 is numbered 57:2-12.

Psalm 57:1 Title: Probably a literary or musical term

Psalm 57:3 The Hebrew has Selah (a word of uncertain meaning) here and at the end of verse

Notes:

The faithfulness and protection of God.

Even in our brokenness before God, the Lord remains faithful, merciful, and just use we believers.

Verses explained:

David asks for God's mercy. He wants God's protection too. David says he will find his hiding place in God Almighty, too. He the Lord's hand will keep him from danger. His cry is to God to fulfill His purpose for him. He is looking at God to provide help from Heaven for him. This disgrace his enemies. David would receive God's love and faithfulness. David uses the analogy of being surrounded by lions with sharp teeth. David claims he has dug a deep pit on his personal journey. Others will fall into the deep hole.

David expresses his confidence in God. David had the idea of singing a song of praises and has the thoughts of musical instruments too. He says he will sing praises in a manner to wake up the dawn. David thanks God and he sings to them among the nations. David refers to God's love as very high. David asks for God's love to shine on all people over the earth.

God judges in all fairness when mankind will actually bury you in your misery.

David at this point, go hide in a cage as he describes God and the way he understood God. He spoke with many different expressions which is one thing he kept faith about.

God would be faithful to his seeing him through every crisis he faced. We never let go of the truth that God cares about at every point in our life–not just as we are at ourselves, but like we are at our best spiritually. Even, in other ways we may be too. God is a patient and understanding God. This is the reason he sends the foretold Messiah eventually. How can God who bestowed and believes in us run off and leave us without even an angel nearby.

David was afraid of Saul but he found a hiding place. He placed his trust in God to see him though and God was faithful to do just that. God will remain faithful to believers who seek in all they too. Even today he will and he does do this.

“The Fruits of the Holy Spirit and Other Biblical Christian Virtues”

By: Little Joe Lewis

Scripture NIV

“22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things, there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking, and envying each other.”

Notes:

First of all, let us make a list of these fruits or elements of the Holy Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-thereafter. Love is the very first one. Wow, isn't that amazing? Here they all are in a list:

Love

Joy

Peace

Forbearance

Kindness

Goodness

Faithfulness

Gentleness

Self-control

Our purposes in this study are to take a deeper look into these and to seek and search the Holy Bible to find other similar expressions the Lord and Biblical writers sought to place in the text. Others that lend themselves to be virtues or such--helping the fulfillment of the Fruits of the Spirit. By the very nature of those other words, I know of them, but I will have to show you all in the Holy Bible where such words are.

We still need to express each of these before telling of the others. Some of these are found in other scriptures, too. So, we may take a look into where they are otherwise found.

First of all, let's discuss love. If we look into 1 Corinthians 13-thereafter we will find love is defined by the Bible as what love is and what love is not characteristic of. You can read the scripture for yourself. It clearly tells what love is and what love is not.

Scripture NIV

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass aknown.

Joy is best described as a great inner happiness that just has to break free and be known. There should be no worries in the Christian life. Joy is about as much the opposite of worry as can be.

As for as peace is concerned, there is such a peace which the Holy Bible refers to as a “peace thar surpasses all understanding. This type of peace is worry free. One thing the Heavenly Father never wanted us to have is worry. Worry can weigh a person down and even lead to depression.

Forbearance is Christian endurance, stamina, and the will to endeavor to be the Lord's agent wholeheartedly.

Kindness is very close to something the Lord would love in us all–gentleness. Being kind for some faint at heart takes a great deal of patience and understanding. Some people have a thin line of patience with certain people. It seems that way.

Goodness is what the Heavenly Father intended us to be, or rather good. He looked back on that he had made in the beginning and said with simplicity it's good.

Our very belief system as Christians is referred to as our faith. It is a matter of faith to believe in faith that we can accomplish something we have never tried before. We read Bible passages again in our lives because we have faith that we will learn something new. The very Holy Spirit we are discussing makes it a probability.

     “Faith in Action”

Scripture NIV

11 “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for.”

Now, we look at gentleness. Gentleness is a fruit of the Spirit, which has to use the other gifts to be clearly gentleness. For example, patience and kindness go hand in hand to make gentleness come across a real and true behavior evidenced by Christian love, too.

Self-control can also be worded as self-discipline. It's not saying certain things are not doing certain things in order for peace to be kept. This is also conceptualized in behaving with love, gentleness, peace, joy, tolerance, gentleness, kindness, and in keeping one's demeanor well.

Other virtues of the Christian life are found in other Bible scriptures. Those other scriptures mention lowliness, compassion, godliness, righteousness, holiness, and purity.

Do you know these are not all of them either? There are so many nice and good attributes of the living the Christian life it's so amazing. After all, we are living with our lives attached to the most Holy One who ever lived on earth.

Helping the Needy Prayer, Fasting and Worry

By: Little Joe Lewis, 2026

Scripture: Giving to the Needy

Chapter 6

1 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Notes:

Don't practice your giving simply to show off in front of other people. Let your giving be done in secret the best you can not particularly to bring you any kind of glory. Let the humble and the Lord Jesus receive the glory and blessings from your duties to the poor and needy.

Scripture: Prayer

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

10 your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us today our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation,[a]

but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’

14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Notes:

Do not pray on the streets but let your prayers be held in the secret places. Now, praying together with fellow believers is a good thing. Doesn't the Holy Bible itself say; “where two or more are gathered in my name there will I be also.”

Fasting

16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Notes:

Just as we should as believers pray in secret we should also have fasting as a secret to others around us too. Sharing with another believer may be good to encourage them in their life of fasting too. Remembering too, some are not able to fast because of health reasons.

Treasures in Heaven

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,[c] your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy,[d] your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Notes:

There is an old saying that someone is so Heavenly minded they are no Earthly good. God expects to live a full and meaningful life on Earth with our resources however limited they may be. If you meet the needs of other citizens of Earth before meeting your own needs you are not practicing good stewardship. Good stewardship practices would have you have enough to share in excess before you share with others your worldly goods. After all, doesn't the Holy Bible say, “a farmer or worker or earner must use the first fruits of the harvest.” This is truly biblical. Practicing this will help us manage our lives better and be more sufficient with our resources. Then, we'll feel better blessed and more capable of sharing when the need(s) arise among us.

Do Not Worry

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Notes:

Let me tell you a story of when I was living much like unto the birds of the air. I was fairly much at times totally relying on help. I didn't know where it was coming from. I was homeless at the time and I had days when I had no money and was tired and thirsty. One such day, I found out just how the Lord Jesus uses His own to spread gratitude and goodness to others. Well, to make a long story short. I met who became one of my new best friends by his delivery of wonderful food and drink to me on the curbside of downtown Meridian, Mississippi. He gave me a medium sized paper bag packed to the top with delicious food. At the top was potato chips, then below this was a chicken salad sandwich, and below this was a carton which contained the most delicious cinnamon roll ever. The Lord Jesus truly blessed me and I felt favor from Him even out on the streets and homeless. This guy and I are still great friends to this day. I'm no longer homeless and soon I will be entering into a new apartment dwelling. Blessed am I.

So, I did not worry and the Lord Jesus and this kind hearted friend who was then a mere stranger gave me blessings. Worrying would have made things only worse for me. I couldn't think of exactly what to wear nor anything day to day. It all worked out everyday. Similar Saints gave me clothing too out of the clear blue.

When you are seeking the Lord Jesus daily like I did early in the morning and all throughout the night each day and night, the blessings abound.

The Lord is The Way

The Lord blesses you every day and night with some of the good only he has provided. We understand he did it. No person could have done so much.

we know he did for all of mankind. He spoke the two lights of the sky into being in his creation days. The creation of the Earth we call home--no matter where we may be has through the thousands of years and the centuries place in part of Earth.

We as one single person never could have control of the place, such as the village, the town, the city, the farm or other place we find ourselves in. We sometimes have too certain virtues taught us by the writer of the Book of Galatians of the New Testament. The fruits of the Holy Spirit are taught us to help us in living around certain people and having strength--when our environment is not as we like.

I'm Little Joe Lewis of Good Heart Mission Inc. in Mississippi USA. I founded Good Heart Mission Inc. because it saddened me to keep thinking about people of all ages living in a testing environment--yet, knowing they desired the exact knowledge of the simple; why questions about the Lord Jesus Christ--Messiah. It simply simple enough for child to learn.

Good Heart Mission Inc./International is calling out in and for prayers. With a voice of hope for the needy, both near and far. I'm not a wealthy man nor minister. I know the world we live-in has both. This statement is not to condemn any one person. Not in the in the very least way. The world has enough burdens without the enemy--called condemnation. The Bible clearly says, "Our battle (on earth) is not against flesh and blood." That's a good one to remember so the Lord Jesus can increase the unity of his Earthly Kingdom. You know he has two kingdoms. His Heavenly Kingdom is the second of the two. The Holy Spirit was sent not just for our personal spitual comfort. The Holy Spirit is so could find sense of unity and love, care, compassion for people who could build the kingdom of God. On earth and in the Heavenly Realm too.

Never forget, in your lowly moments; he is interceeding for your benefit to his Heavenly Father Creator for all things--people, the plants, and animals, and much more he knows are on Earth, too. He has a burden for the love of the outcasts, abandoned, downtroddened, and abused. Contrary to some, the Lord does not want people living a suffering condition.

I read just in my Bible Study alone. He knows the names we were given--at our very birth. How can we believe a Heavenly Father like him could not or wouldn't love us all.

Remember the Lord Jesus never has placed condemnation upon a living soul. We should either. I'm unsure but, condemning others may the only way a person will not ever see the likes of Heaven. Did we die and live again even one soul on earth? Oh, no no no we did most definitely did not. Remember how you should treat anyone. After all, the Lord Jesus Christ is The Way. The Truth. and the Life. No one else ever on earth; could or can, do that for anyone. He came to bless ever sinner and the needy.

Beyond the Ordinary

“Education is Our Ministry to the Future”

Curriculum Study By: Little Joe Lewis

Good Heart Mission Inc., Meridian, MS, USA

Background

 Ephesians 1

"God said that many things he made were good. God even believed that mankind was good too."

There was no lack of knowledge in the world until Adam and Eve ate of the fruit.

Scripture: I Corinthians 5:18 NIV

New International Version

“18 All this is from God, who equipped us to educate ourselves through Christ and gave us the ministry of teaching.”

Background

Since the beginning of time mankind or people have distanced themselves from God when God desires man to be near to Him.

Times When Man Broke Connections With God

Adam and Eve eat the fruit

Cain killing Abel

Noah and the flood

The Children Israel many times

        Sodomn and Gomorrah

English Standard Version (ESV): "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you”

The Heavenly Father never gave up on man but was upset enough to take action for their bad behavior and relationships with each other and with God.

Therefore, mankind needed guidance with each other and with Heavenly Father. That's why he sent the Lord Jesus.

We can be restored as people to faith in Heavenly Father by having faith in His son. Then we have the Ministry of Teaching to meet others where they are and share the same Good News with them. As we go our days on earth we speak to others by faith in Lord Jesus.

Notes:

The number one gift we are to share of as Christian believers is our love for people and the love of our Lord Jesus. Therefore, as the scripture above states; we are to exercise the ministry of teaching wherever we go. This is to let non-believers know that their sinful nature can be reconciled to God, Holy Heavenly Father through Lord Jesus His son. Just as we were brought to salvation through excepting Jesus as Lord, other people can do the same thing. Jesus died and rose again for all kinds of sinners not merely a few. There in no person perfect even after excepting the Lord's gift of salvation and reconciliation. We should not ever condemn other people. The Lord does not, so therefore we should not condemn other people either.

Scripture: Romans 5:11 NIV

New International Version

11 “Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received understanding.”

Note:

The scripture above tells us the same thing. We received reconciliation through the Lord Jesus from our Heavenly Father. The other scripture tells us that our ministry is teaching. What a great blessing the Heavenly Father gave us through the Lord Jesus.

The best thing we can do as believers is to share our faith with others wherever we go letting people know they can be reconciled to Heavenly Father through the Lord Jesus, His son. Then they will have the fruits of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit can be their comforter just as the Holy Spirit gives us comfort and the ability to discern what the Bible says as we read it.

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:11 NIV

New International Version

The Ministry of Teaching

11 “Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade others. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience.”

Notes:

This is yet another scripture which tells us the importance of teaching and it’s a ministry of every believer. To be a minister of teaching we should not have a condemning spirit as we go among the non-believer. This scripture tells that: “we try to persuade others.” It states that we are “plain to God.” It speaks of fear of the Lord. To fear the Lord is to be in awe of Him for His greatness and His goodness to mankind. For us also remembering we could not cause reconciliation for ourselves without Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus.

Summary

As believers we should not tire of hearing about two things the Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus provides for us. Those two things are at the core of our salvation and who we are in this world as Christian believers. Those are the very two things we have been studying about in all the studies written for you. They are; reconciliation and love. Of course, we mentioned a key source in our lives too. That is the comforter called the Holy Spirit. Go and share these things to help others understand why you declare you are a believer in the Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus. Don't forget to tell them of the Holy Spirit. Show them the scripture about the Holy Spirit. Which is: Galatians 5:22 & following. Be blessed by your loving Lord and His Heavenly Father. Remember the Lord has given over to you the ministry of reconciliation. Make use of it with His grace and mercy along with your sharing. Instill hope in the people around you daily. Be happy too each day. Draw near to the Lord and He will draw near unto you.
